Considering Your Writing Fit

Published by garyw at 1:37 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Greetings to you, Writers, and to those interested in Writing:

At the suggestion of the technical ‘half’ of Harleygarret, John Hurley, I, Gary Willhite, freelance writer, will share aspects from an article that I previously authored on assignment. Basically, the instructional piece centers around the fledgling writer’s search to find their niche within the all-encompassing field of writing.

It is an obvious assumption that if you are within the writing section, and, are reading this blog, you either have a peaked or vested interest in writing, as well as a passion for the creative craft. If your creative muse possess imagination, pursuits towards fiction may suit you well. On the other side of the proverbial ‘coin,’ should your creativity be channeled in the direction of development, then non-fiction could be your forte. In some instances, a writer of versatility might strive to embrace both categories.

Beyond preferences in the two distinct categories of writing, you, the endeavoring writer, need to ascertain your objectives. Such objectives would consist of accredidation, recognition and satisfaction, along with, of course, rewards. Now, to simplify these goals, consider what it is that you would like to derive from and out of your writing. Satisfaction would pertain, of course, to any accomplishment in a formal sense of writing. Recognition could be measured by way of success through acceptance and publication of fictional manuscripts. Accreditation is approachable through achievements within areas that correlate within non-fiction projects. Rewards can be interpreted for some in the form of awards, and, where others are concerned, it can be equated through monetary gain.

You need to seriously consider your approach to writing. Again, aside from your passion for the craft, you should conduct a self-analysis as to your reasoning for pursuing writing. Therefore, it all boils down to three options, which are in direct relevance to you, the writer. Hence, without further ado, writing may serve as your passionate pastime, a part-time vocation or a full-fledged career.

To be an accomplished writer at any level requires application, dedication, patience, persistence and time. Be realistic in your considerations towards arriving at the form or approach of writing that is a fit for you.

Harleygarret’s next blog post will touch upon opportunities for writers within the pursuits of fiction and non-fiction.
